COLLABORATIVE EVENTS: Real Estate, Coaching, & Art

The weather, perfectly hovering between 75-80 degrees, made the drive from West Hollywood Hills to Long Beach quite pleasant in spite of the bumper to bumper congestion on the 101 freeway. The day, designed to be all about real estate education and business networking, actually began with the vibrant colors and delightful story of  ‘The Book of Life’ by Jorge R. Gutierrez at the Book of LifeEdwards Long Beach Stadium (Regal Cinemas) on Carson Street. From there, I sated my hunger at Whole Foods juice bar and deli before traveling to the Long Beach Playhouse to listen to Steve Shull, the president of Performance Coaching.

Collaborative Events: Real Estate

Mike Hauxhurst and Lee Viera of Cherry Creek Mortgage Company in Long Beach greeted real estate agents eager to maximize their potential to better serve buyers, sellers and investors. The Cherry Creek Mortgagecollaborative effort of ‘Mix and Learn’ allowed time for the loan representatives of Cherry Creek’s Long Beach branch to meet–face to face–with active sales agents and brokers to share brief updates and quickly answer questions about loan programs before and after the event’s educational presentation. Next month, on Tuesday November 18, 2014, real estate agents will glean appraisal tips and techniques from Cherry Creek’s chief apprasier, Scott Hamlin, at The Grand Event Center before attendees are free to partake of libations and networking hosted by Cardinal Pacific Escrow and the Cherry Creek Mortgage team.

Collaborative Events: Coaching

Today, October 21, 2014, Steve Shull, a personal and professional coaching expert, shared negotiation strategies and elaborated on four main areas:

1. Developing an I CAN belief system and attitude in business.
2. Developing the habit of prospecting on a daily basis.
3. Mastering your Listing Presentation.
4. Mastering the Commission Dialog.

Steve’s goal is “to help real estate agents build a business that is more predictable, more dependable, and ultimately more productive and profitable.”

Collaborative Events: Art

For those willing to pay a ten dollar donation and drive to Cal State Long Beach, a ‘Mix & Mingle’ was hosted by the collaborative efforts of Pride Real Estate Professionals Association (P.R.E.P.A. Long Beach) and the Long Beach Gay and Lesbian Chamber of Commerce (L.B.G.L.C.C.) while the University Art Museum opened its doors for visitors to enjoy live music and view the current exhibition of  Barbara Klemm’s  Light and Dark: Photographs from Germany (September 6 – December 14, 2014).

Collaborative Events: Networking

boubouffegrill3For me, the event was like a reunion. I had the pleasure of seeing Gary Price, Patti Smith, Mike Ojeda, Larry Boren, Lynn Stearns, Caitlin Stearns, Sharon Leibl and many others I had not seen since 2006. Before returning north I enjoyed a lamb feast at Boubouffe Grille in Belmont Shore. As I listened to the live classical guitarist and waited for my bill I looked up to see Patty Moore (Farmers Insurance) and Jean Shapen (Broker: Main Street Realtors) walk in with friends who graciously allowed me a moment to exchange hugs, updates and laughter before I boarded my jeep and headed for home.
