Capturing What Captivates

The 2014 fireworks that electrified night’s onyx sky have burned into ash and smoke but the thrill of New Year’s Eve is still here and at 6:00 a.m. this morning I thought how wonderful it would be if you accompanied me on my first 2014 exploration of the hills. So, knowing our schedules would not coincide, I thought of a way to include you as if you were right by my side.

Dressed in layers I could easily shed as the sun rose and chased the chill air away, I grabbed my camera because photographs are the best way for you to see the sights that captivate me in spite of all the annoying car engines and lawn mowers farting toxic clouds of exhaust.

Determined female that I am, even though I pine daily for our beautiful coastline, I’ve been able to find serenity amidst LA’s cacophony and filth. And, regardless of life’s roller coaster ride tainted with heartache and hardship that has the power to knock me off my feet, I bounce back like a high-speed racket ball because I have learned how easy it is to uplift my heart with the simplest of things such as a vigorous walk, or, watching a Blue Jay flit from twig to branch like a butterfly.

NOTE: These photographs were taken during a 5 mile hike on Thursday morning, Janauary 2, 2014.

A crisp morning breeze tickles each

delicate leaf and I can hear them giggle as

they delight in sensations enlivening their souls.

Hidden from view, secrets lay in

shadowed silence until the light of day

permeates each nook and cranny seeking truth.

Distinction doesn’t necessarily

equate to good taste; however, beauty

will forever remain in the eye of the beholder.

Natural Habitat

Natural Habitat

Southern California’s natural

habitat is rather dry and barren, a haven

for coyotes, hawks, Bobcats, deer and skunks.

Angles of Distinction

Angles of Distinction

Extravagant architectural angles offer

distinction and shouts, “Look at me, look at me!”

So I did, then I photographed it especially for you to critique.

History But Not Historic

History But Not Historic

What it was or what it was meant to be I know not.

However, these hills are filled with the oddity and wonders

of Hollywood personalities; their successes, excesses and flops.

I’ve had the pleasure of viewing the inside

It will depend on the moment you are in

when determining whether flexibility, or, rigidity

will provide the most productive or rewarding results.

I am astounded by the universe and

I am held spell bound by the cornucopia of nature.

And, every now and then, an architectural feat captivates.
